A studio course for adults in figure modeling with ceramic clay. The course will explore methods and aesthetics of creating figurative sculpture. Instruction will be provided in proportion, anatomy, features of the face, etc. Students will work from the model each week, putting into practice the techniques they have learned.

Jan 7, 14, 21, 28, Feb 4, 11 Exploring the Raku & Sagger Process Sat 10am - 12pm

Explore and learn the process of Raku and Sagger. The student will learn various methods and techniques associated with glazes and slips. Surface treatment will vary depending on the firing. Group critiques are held each week to review and enhance concept and visual imagery. This course is designed for intermediate and advanced students wishing to enhance and expand their development in hand building and wheel throwing skills.

Beginning Wheel Throwing (afternoon class)- An introduction to making functional pottery on the wheel. Students will learn the steps needed to go from centering clay to glazing finished work. Basic forms such as bowls, vases, and cups will be covered. No experience needed.

Intermediate Wheel Throwing - A continuation of the beginning class that will explore additional ceramic forms and techniques. Students will be focused on refining and expanding their skills.

Every Tuesday, 6 week segments Beginning / Intermediate Wheel Throwing- Daytime Tuesdays 10am–12 pm

Feb 11 CRITIQUE CORNER with Regis Brodie Sat 11am - 2pm
Regis Brodie Register

This 3-hour course will be conducted in a group critique format. Each person will receive aesthetic and technical feed back on their work and their working process from their peers and master artist Regis Brodie. This class is an opportunity to have your work seen and discussed and by this, to expand, reinforce and open a better understanding of your vision and your direction.

Jan 11, 18, 25, Feb 1, 8, 15 Tools & Techniques in Clay Wed 4pm - 6pm

This class will cover a range of throwing and hand-building methods.  The instructor will guide students through projects of their choosing- both functional and sculptural ideas are encouraged. Students will learn how to match technique with concept - how to select the right tool for the job. Group critiques will provide an environment for constructive feedback and a chance to investigate visual relationships.
